  • Walking and cycling as a priority: wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes. Design interventions for wide and narrow roads where walking and cycling can be made more convenient and comfortable, while limiting speed for cars
  • Improvement of transit stops for better accessibility to key establishments (Transit stop design suitable for the tropics and Proposed locations of major transit stops)
  • Integration of bike parking, wayfinding, and end-of-trip facilities that the city government and private establishments can adopt
  • Improvement of tree cover for urban heat island effect mitigation
  • Introduction of road diet interventions to discourage speeding
  • Shared street designs where open/car-free streets are feasible and where street furniture can be integrated

  • Modal shift to walking and cycling
  • Promotion of Open (car-free) Streets in barangays

Outline campaign goals, target audience, key messages, and a step-by-step guide to execution which could be handed off to the project staff or local partners to implement. This can come in the form of a toolkit (for Open Streets) or an inception plan for an advocacy campaign promoting sustainable transport that can be scaled and further developed by the project team
