GEMINI Academy – New Mobility Services

Welcome to the GEMINI Academy! This chapter introduces the GEMINI project, the Academy’s purpose, and what you can expect from this learning journey.

What is GEMINI?

GEMINI (Green, Equitable, and Modular Mobility Infrastructure for Innovative Transport) is a Horizon Europe project that unites cities, operators, researchers, and providers to test and scale sustainable shared mobility solutions across Europe. At its core, GEMINI fosters real-world impact through innovation, partnerships, and knowledge sharing.

The project’s pilots -called Mobility Living Labs (MLLs) – test various shared mobility options, including free-floating and station-based bikes, scooters, mopeds, and cars.

What is the GEMINI Academy?

The Academy supports cities, local authorities, and operators by offering practical knowledge and tools to navigate and implement shared mobility solutions. Through workshops, webinars, case studies, interviews, and templates, participants learn to design, launch, and scale mobility systems tailored to local needs.

Main Objective of Gemini Academy:

To engage GEMINI cities and operators in structured knowledge sharing, enabling them to:

  • Understand different shared mobility models (bike, car, scooter, cargo-bike sharing)
  • Develop viable business and operational models
  • Validate and scale mobility services aligned with local and European best practices
  • Share knowledge across European cities to support harmonized deployment

What to Expect from the Academy

The Academy will evolve over time, gradually sharing insights, lessons learned, and resources based on ongoing pilots and city experiences. Participants will gain practical frameworks and tools to support sustainable mobility initiatives. There will be workshops, videos, webinars, and other formats to facilitate learning and collaboration.

Expected Outcomes

By completing Gemini Academy, you will gain:

  • An understanding of shared mobility models and selection criteria
  • Operational frameworks and business templates
  • Lessons from pilots including KPIs and costs
  • Training materials, tender templates, and technical insights
  • Enhanced capacity to plan, manage, and scale shared mobility initiatives

Why It Matters

Shared mobility can reduce emissions, ease congestion, and offer affordable transport alternatives. Success depends on effective governance, partnerships, and financial models. The GEMINI Academy bridges innovation and implementation, helping cities unlock the full potential of sustainable mobility.
